Sperling who created the Dream Foundation with the final purpose of helping undocumented students from Long Island. The scholarship registrations will open on Monday to benefit students who cannot access financial aid from the government due to their immigration status.
The president of the Dream Foundation, Adam Tavares, explained that the Dream scholarships will be awarded as follows: one scholarship of fifteen thousand dollars, one scholarship of ten thousand dollars and five scholarships of one thousand dollars.
Who is eligible?
1. Full time students struggling to fund their studies due to a lack of documentation to obtain financial assistance.
2. Long Island residents that are attending high school, college or a university.
3. Students must have a minimum B average and must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 during their time studying in college or a university.
4. Applicants must send an essay of no more than 350 words on their professional aspirations and how this scholarship can help them achieve their dreams. A personal interview may be required.
How to apply?
The application process is simple and fast. The students that would like to participate must keep in mind of the May 30 closing date and must fill out a form that can be found on the website NYDreamFoundation.org. The form must be signed, scanned and sent as a PDF to the following email: DREAM.foundation.LI@gmail.com<mailto:DREAM.foundation.LI@gmail.com>. The original form must also be mailed to the foundation in the following way:

Lo que empezó como un sueño, es hoy una realidad para el abogado David Sperling, quien creó la Fundación Dream con el fin de ayudar a estudiantes indocumentados de Long Island, y es que este lunes se abrieron las inscripciones para las becas que beneficiarán a estudiantes que no pueden acceder a ayudas financieras por parte del Gobierno debido a su estatus migratorio.
El presidente de la Fundación Dream, Adam Tavares explicó que las becas Dream se entregarán de la siguiente forma: una beca de 15 mil dólares, una beca de 10 mil dólares y cinco becas de mil dólares.
¿Quién es elegible?
1. Estudiantes de tiempo completo con dificultades para financiar sus estudios por falta de documentación para obtener ayuda financiera.
2. Residentes en Long Island que estén en High School, College o universidad.
3. Deben tener al menos un promedio de calificaciones en B y mantener un GPA de al menos 3.0 durante su tiempo de estudio en college o universidad.
4. Solicitantes deben enviar un ensayo de no más de 350 palabras sobre sus aspiraciones profesionales y cómo esta beca puede ayudarlos a alcanzar sus sueños. Una entrevista personal podría ser requerida.
