GUEST SPEAKER: DR. HAROLD FERNANDEZ, AUTHOR OF THE BOOK “UNDOCUMENTED”

The DREAM Foundation will be holding its third annual fundraising cruise event, appropriately named “DREAM Cruise” with the goal of raising sufficient funds to provide undocumented immigrant students with scholarships to be used towards their education. The third annual “DREAM Cruise” will be held on August 20, 2016 on the ship, Freeport Princess which will depart from 85 Woodcraft Ave, Freeport, NY 11520 at 7p.m. to 11p.m. This event will include dinner, dancing, and drinks.
The guest speaker is Dr. Fernandez, whom at 13 years of age along with his younger brother, Byron, arrived at the United States coasts on a raft in 1978. Today, Dr. Fernandez is Chief of Cardiovascular surgeon at Southside Hospital, Director of Heart Failure surgery; professor of Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery at Northwell School of Medicine at Hofstra University; and is also author of his own autobiography “Undocumented” in which he discusses the story of his arrival to the United States and the hardships he faced in his journey to making his dreams come true.
During this event, over twenty of Dr. Fernandez’ autographed books will be given out.

La Fundación DREAM realizará su 3° crucero anual de recaudación de fondos que lleva el nombre “DREAM Cruise” con el objetivo de obtener fondos para otorgar becas a los jovenes indocumentados que desean alcanzar su sueño Americano, a través de su educación.
El 3° crucero anual “DREAM Cruise” se llevará a cabo el próximo 20 de Agosto, 2016, a bordo del Freeport Princess, 85 Woodcleft Ave. Freeport, NY 11520 de 7 p.m. a 11 p.m. Este evento incluye la cena bailable y bebidas.
El orador invitado es el Dr. Fernandez, quien a los 13 años junto a su hermano menor, Byron llegaron a las costas de los Estados Unidos a bordo de una lancha, en 1,978. Hoy en día, el Dr. Fernandez es Jefe de Cirugía Cardiovascular del Hospital Southside, Director de Sistema de Cirugía de Insuficiencia Cardiaca; es Profesor de Cirugía Cardiovascular y Torácica de la Escuela de Medicina Northwell de la Universidad Hofstra; y es autor del libro, “Indocumentado” donde narra su historia desde de su llegada como indocumentado a este país y toda su lucha por alcanzar su sueño.
Durante este evento se sorteará más de 20 libros del Dr. Fernandez que serán autografiados.
